The 5 best organic maternity clothes brands

The 5 best organic maternity clothes brands

We live in an age of choice. And when there's so much choice in the clothes you wear during pregnancy, why not choose eco friendly maternity clothes. If one of the eco credentials you opt for is organic, this list is for you. Here's our pick of the five best organic maternity clothing brands.

When this post was first written, Seraphine was also included in the list. After Seraphine went into administration, we removed the maternity clothing brand from our recommendations of sustainable maternity clothes. That being said, if you do come across Seraphine, we would still recommend the clothing to mums-to-be and for postpartum.

Boob Design

From organic nursing bras to maternity jumpsuits made from organic cotton, Boob Design's range of organic maternity and nursing clothing is second to none. We're talking, hundreds of items.

To find the organic maternity clothing and essentials, you need to use the search function. Just type in organic and you can then filter the results to find what you're looking for.

This is a brand you'll come back to again and again if you're keen to find the best organic maternity clothes selection all in one place. As a bonus, they also have the best organic nursing bra selection, so keep them in mind when you're putting together your breastfeeding shopping list.

Isabella Oliver

One of the bigger brands on the list. Isabella Oliver is on the pricier side of the scale but they actually offer pre-loved clothes on their website, which is always an eco plus point.

But its pre-loved collection isn't Isabella Oliver's only sustainable maternity clothes credentials. Among its many planet responsible initiatives, Isabella Oliver has a good range of organic clothing.

Some of the best organic maternity clothes available at Isabella Oliver include this breton style red striped top for £69 and their under bump wide leg jeans for £119. Both of which will take you into the postpartum period comfortably.

Beyond Nine

I'm biased as I'm a big fan of Beyond Nine. In fact, I would consider this brand to have the best organic maternity clothes in the UK. I lived in my Margot jumpsuit for the first six months after my son's birth. Organic cotton jersey, stretchy beyond belief and smart to boot. What's not to love.

The beauty of Beyond Nine is that it caters for all. The jumpsuits and dresses can be worn if your pregnant, postpartum or never plan on being pregnant at all. They just create fabulous clothing for everyone in every stage of life.

Beyond Nine's clothes are for life. Have a look at what they offer here.

Tilbea London

A relative newcomer to the maternity-wear scene. Meet Tilbea. You may have come across this one from social media. They're famous for the under-bust vests that help you create a nursing wardrobe out of your current wardrobe.

But Tilbea are so much more than vests. They're an award-winning maternity retailer with a small range of organic items. As with Boob Design, your best bet is to use the search function to find the organic maternity wear.

My favourite organic maternity clothes by Tilbea include this organic cotton maternity jumpsuit that will stay with you through your breastfeeding years.

Jorgen House

So we've cheated a little by adding this brand to the list, but hear us out. Jorgen House isn't just about organic maternity clothing, it is one of the most sustainable maternity clothes brands you could find. Plus, they sell some of the best organic nursing bras.

This maternity brand looks to kit you out through pregnancy and beyond. The materials used by Jorgen House include recycled textiles and organic cotton. The real eco credentials of this brand are in its ethos of creating basics that adapt to your changing body. And the basics are excellent quality.

My favourite item from Jorgen House is their magnetic bras and the magnetic bodysuit. When you're nursing a baby, clipping and unclipping your bra can get fiddly. Magnets take the fiddliness out of feeding. It's absolutely inspired.

Project CeCe

As a bonus, if you're in the UK or Europe, Project CeCe is a great place to look for sustainable clothing brands. They've even got a filter for sustainable maternity clothes. It's a great website that acts as a search engine for ethically made clothing.
